San Francisco, August 25th – SmartVOD by Vonetize launches the first ever OTT Hollywood premium service in Africa.

The service, branded Aflix by SmartVOD, launched in collaboration with a Nigerian technology company in the African Sub-Sahara, and is now available on Smartphones and Tablets.

The premium service offers over 2,000 hours of content, including new releases from Hollywood Major Studios, TV series, Kids content, sports, Lifestyle, nature and science, music, Bollywood, telenovelas and more.

With movies from major Hollywood studios such as Disney, Warner Brothers, MGM, Miramax and top TV series such as Mad Man, Weeds, Anger Management, the service is fully operated By Vonetize, and includes a complete in-app billing solution, by SmartPay.tv.

Aflix by SmartVOD is offered for a subscription fee of $9.99 per month, with new releases rental price of $4.99 for a 48-hour unlimited viewing license.

Taking into account the strong cash and pre-paid market in Africa, Aflix by SmartVOD also implements local Cash and Pre-Paid payment services. These services enable end-users to purchase physical vouchers at retail stores, redeemable inside the Aflix app for content bundles.

SmartVOD, in collaboration with its Nigerian partner, plans to expand across Africa during 2015, with LG, Toshiba and Samsung Smart TV’s as well as set-top-boxes.
